16-0910 v3.0/Cal Guerxo/Just Certification
QUESTION
Imperative 18 requires at least one of the Project team members to have a just label for their organization. We are working with a number of small companies and individuals and none of the organizations that are part of the design or construction team have the required minimum of 5 employees, although several of the organizations participating in the project design and construction do meet the intent of the imperative by promoting business practices that support a responsible and equitable living future.
In order to meet the intent of the imperative we would like to certify using a similar certification that meets the same objectives but that does not have a 5 employee minimum, called B Corps.
B Corps is a certification for for-profit companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Corps are companies that measure/report their social and environmental performance against a transparent 3rd party standard called the B Impact Assessment. More information can be found at https://www.bcorporation.net/
In case this would not be acceptable, are there any other compliance paths available to meet this credit for project teams with organizations that have less than 5 employees?
ANSWER
If the project team does not have any project decision makers with more than five employees, a firm of three employees may be eligible, on a case by cases basis, to pursue Just. Please contact the program manager through the contact form at justorganizations.com.
