What's New in Just 2.0?

In 2019, ILFI launched a revised version of Just with the goal to:

  • incorporate lessons learned from early adopters
  • harmonize with other frameworks, standards and certifications
  • broaden industry applicability and global relevance 

Through the process, Just 2.0 offers a/an:

  • streamlined application process
  • compelling narrative on the value of each indicator
  • toolkit of helpful resources
  • alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 

Key changes between 1.0 and 2.0 include:

  • Indicators now have 4 Performance Levels (previously it was 3)
    • Level 1 recognizes rewards policy transparency
    • Levels 2 and 3 recognizes increasing social equity impact
    • Level 4 recognizes best practices and cutting edge performance
  • While there are still 6 performance categories, they have changed slightly:
    • Safety in 1.0 has been replaced by Employee Health
    • Local Benefit in 1.0 has been removed
    • Equity Purchasing & Supply Category was added in 2.0.
  • The metric for racial and ethnic diversity is more universal and eliminates the white/non-white classifications
  • Organizations can opt out in any one indicator in any category (Max 6 opt outs)

There have been changes to the 20 indicators.

  • The following indicators have been removed:
    • Non-Discrimination
    • Occupational Safety
    • Hazardous Chemicals
    • Worker Happiness
    • Local Control
    • Local Sourcing
    • Responsible Investing
  • The following indicators have been added:
    • Inclusion
    • Employee Engagement
    • Physical Health
    • Well-Being
    • Retirement Provision
    • Local Communities
    • Equitable Purchasing
    • Supply Chain
