Just 3.0 Survey Requirements
The information in this document is also available in the Just 3.0 Program Manual. For your convenience, we’ve consolidated all survey requirements into a single, easy-to-use resource.
Under Just 3.0, organizations must ask and report on six required questions for each of the following indicators: Belonging, Engagement, and Well-Being. While organizations are welcome to include additional questions in their survey, these cannot replace the required ones. If an organization wishes to modify the wording of a required question, they must seek approval from the Just team. The Just team will review the proposed changes to ensure they align with the original question's intent. Maintaining consistency in the questions is crucial to support our ability to evaluate, track, and share meaningful data on how Just organizations are performing in these areas.
Clarifications & Calculations
Survey Participation
The entire workforce should be given an opportunity to respond to the Well-Being Survey. In order to be valid for submission, results must reflect a minimum response rate of 80%. Employees must be paid their usual full wage for the time it takes them to participate.
Survey Recency
Survey results must be from within 12 months of the documentation submission date. For the purposes of Just, ILFI encourages organizations to conduct any employee surveys as close to the documentation submission date as possible.
Survey Metric Scoring
Participants should choose from the following responses to the statements in the Survey:
- Strongly Disagree = 1
- Disagree = 2
- Neutral = 3
- Agree = 4
- Strongly Agree = 5
All questions should include an “N/A” or similar response option.
To generate the score used for each Indicator survey metric:
- Step 1: Add up the numeric values corresponding to the responses for each question to get a total value for each question.
- Step 2: For each question, divide that value by the number of answers received (omitting any “N/A” responses or skips) for that question to get an average question score.
- Step 3: Once you have average question scores for each of the six tracked questions, add them together and divide by six to get the average Indicator survey metric score.
