Credits & CEUs

How can I offer LFA credit for my course or event?

LFA Foundational credit and LFA General credit have been retired and are no longer issued by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) or any other education provider. ILFI does not operate a CEU provider program.

Can I earn AIA credits through Living Future coursework?

Yes! As a whole, LFA offers 12 AIA LU|HSW credits and 6.5 AIA LU|Elective credits. Most other courses in the online course catalog offer AIA credit as well.

To verify a particular course's credit offerings, refer to the Outcomes section below the course description (or, check the end of the Course Description itself, which may need to be expanded). Live events will have their CEUs displayed before and during the event.

How do I report AIA credits earned through Living Future coursework?

Be sure to include your AIA member number when registering for live events (such as member webinars and the Living Future Conference) and on-demand courses (at education.living-future.org). If anything is missing from your AIA transcript, please let us know as soon as you notice.

Per AIA policy, ILFI reports attendance to AIA on behalf of learners within 10 business days of their education completion.

  • For on-demand, online courses: LUs are reported for all learners who provided their AIA member number in their education account and met all requirements to earn a certificate of completion for the course. If you failed to provide your AIA member number, please email us as soon as possible. ILFI will make every effort to report your attendance to AIA at that point.
  • For live, online events (e.g. member webinars): LUs are reported for all learners who provided their AIA member number at registration and attended the entire session. If you failed to provide your AIA member number, please email us as soon as possible. ILFI will make every effort to report your attendance to AIA at that point.
  • For live, on-site events*: LUs are reported for all learners who provided their AIA member number at registration, checked into the session during attendance, and attended the entire session. If you failed to provide your AIA member number, please email us as soon as possible. If you email within 10 business days of completing the education, ILFI will make every effort to report your attendance to AIA at that point. If it has been more than 10 business days since the event, ILFI will provide a certificate of completion that you may use to report your attendance to AIA.

*Please note that we send reminder emails about CEU reporting following the annual Living Future Conference, along with mentions in our monthly member newsletters. It may be worth taking a look at your inbox filters to ensure that emails from @living-future.org aren't landing in a spam folder, and that you're signed up for our primary newsletter (https://living-future.org/newsletter/) and are receiving the member newsletters each month. You can email membership@living-future.org and our team can make sure you're on the list with an active email address.

To check whether your AIA member number is on file (and accurate) within your Education profile for online courses:

Reach Out: If you find that your AIA member number is missing from your Education profile (or inaccurate), reach out to education@living-future.org — we'll add/correct it and report any recent courses you've completed to AIA.

Can I earn AIA credits at the Living Future Conference?

Yes! The vast majority of educational sessions will offer either AIA LU|Elective or AIA LU|HSW credit.

Tip: Be sure to check a session's details to verify whether and which type of AIA credit is offered. Keynote sessions, networking events, and tours might not offer credit.

As long as you provided your AIA member number when registering for the conference, ILFI will report your session attendance to AIA on your behalf within 10 days of the conference's end.

Reach Out: If you did not provide your AIA member number when registering, or if you are not seeing your Living Future session attendance on your AIA transcript within 15 days of the conference's end, contact us at education@living-future.org for assistance.

How do I report GBCI credits earned through Living Future coursework?

Unlike for AIA credit, ILFI cannot report GBCI CE hours on behalf of our learners. You will need to self-report GBCI CE hours toward your LEED credential in accordance with GBCI's credit reporting guidance. If you require a certificate of attendance, please reach out to education@living-future.org.

Tip: The Foundations of Biophilic Design Certificate offers 12 GBCI CE hours, which are approved towards maintenance of LEED credentials.
