How to Register a Building Project
Follow these instructions to register a building project under the Living Building Challenge (including Petal and Core Certification), Zero Carbon Certification, or Zero Energy Certification.
Project registration, documentation, and submission all take place in the Living Future Portal.
- If you haven't already, your first step is to Create a Portal Account.
- If you already have a Portal account, you're ready to Register your Building Project.
Create a Portal Account
- Go to the Living Future Portal.
- Click 'Register' in the top right.
- You'll be taken to a SurveyMonkey Apply applicant account screen. Enter your details and set a password, then click 'Create Account.'
- Check your inbox for an email from noreply@mail.smapply.net with subject: Your Registration Request. Click the 'Complete Registration' button in that email to finalize your account creation.
Register your Building Project
Important ⚠️ The individual registering the building project will need to have an active Professional Living Future Membership. If you need assistance or have any questions about membership, our Membership Team is happy to help.
- Go to the Living Future Portal.
- Click 'Log In' in the top right.
- Click the 'View Programs' button (or click on 'Programs' in the top menu).
- Find the program that you'd like to register a project under and click 'More.'
- Click 'Apply.'
- Enter the project's name, then click 'Create Application.'
- Click into the 'Registration Form' under Your Tasks.
Fill out the Registration Form. There are two pages—the first is general project information, and the second is terms and invoice information.
Tip 💡 If you do not know exact dates (e.g., for the Anticipated Start of Construction), please provide your best estimate. This information can be revised later with the help of Living Future staff.
- Once you have completed the Registration Form in its entirety, click 'Mark as Complete' at the bottom of the second page. This will lock in your responses for a final review before submitting.
- You're almost done! Click 'Submit.' You should receive a confirmation email from noreply@mail.smapply.net with subject: Your Project Name - Registration in Progress.
What's next?
Sit tight—after reviewing your application, our Buildings Team will issue an invoice for the registration fee within 5 business days. Once the registration invoice is paid, you will receive a Support Intro email with next steps.
