Declare Label Renewal

Declare labels have an annual renewal, aligning with the annual updates to the Red List. A Declare label becomes eligible for renewal 60 days prior to its expiration date and remains eligible for renewal up to 30 days after its expiration date. A Declare label that has expired or has been retired can still be renewed, however, that process will vary to some degree.

This guide will walk you through how to renew your Declare label while it is eligible to renew and in the event that the Declare label expires.

Renewing an Active Declare Label

When your Declare label becomes eligible for renewal, an automated email will be sent to the 3E account holder alerting you to the upcoming renewal deadline. These notices are sent out 60 days and 30 days before your label expires, as well as on the date of the label’s expiration. This email will alert you to the name of the product and the Declare ID of the expiring label.

You can also find labels that are eligible for renewal on the Publications page in 3E Exchange. To access your publications, navigate to My Publications in your left-hand navigation bar. In your publications, you can see your Declare labels, their statuses, and expiration dates.

Declare labels that are up for renewal will list the status as Eligible for Renewal. Clicking on the Eligible for Renewal link will begin the renewal process for the Declare label.

You can also filter your list of labels to only show labels that are eligible for renewal by clicking the Status drop-down and selecting Eligible for Renewal.

Selecting the Eligible for Renewal link on your published labels will take you to the publication view for the product. Here, you can review the existing label, download a draft of that label, and review the payment history.

If the label is eligible to renew, you will also have a gray alert box indicating the expiration date of the label, which also includes a Renew Declare Label button. Selecting Renew Declare Label will begin the renewal process.

Upon selecting that button, you will be brought through the regular Declare submission workflow as detailed in Creating a Declare Label Start to Finish

Please ensure all information disclosed within the renewal submission is up to date, including any changes in the bill of materials, final assembly locations, and attached certificates.

Upon reaching the end of the Declare workflow, select the Submit Declare Label to ILFI drop-down, then click Submit for Renewal. You will be directed to the payment page where you can input your credit card information or use a coupon code provided by the Living Future staff to bypass payment.

Once the Living Future has reviewed and approved your renewal, you will be notified via an email from noreply@3eco.com. This email will prompt you to review the hyperlinked label. After approving the label for publication, Living Future will publish the renewed label and provide an updated label.

Renewing an Expired or Retired Declare Label

After 30 days past the expiration date of your Declare label, the label has fully expired and is no longer eligible for renewal, and Living Future’s policy is to retire the label at that date.

If your Declare label has expired or been retired, you may still renew it, however, it will be treated as a new submission by 3E’s platform and the Living Future team. To begin the renewal process of an expired or retired label, go to My Publications in your left-hand navigation bar within 3E Exchange. In your publications, you can see your Declare labels, their statuses, and expiration dates. A Declare label that has expired or been retired has a status of Archived

You can filter your list of labels to only show labels that are expired or retired by clicking the Status drop-down and selecting Archived.
