Membership Platform Migration FAQ

What is the membership platform and how is it changing?

The membership platform (currently referred to as the “Member Dashboard”) is the online platform where Living Future Members access their benefits, collaborate, and co-learn for the purpose of advancing the regenerative buildings movement.

The current “Member Dashboard” platform will close on Thursday, May 1 and will be replaced with our new Living Future Community platform (hosted by Circle). Between May 1 and May 2, all active members will be migrated to the new platform and receive an email invitation to create their account.

Why is the platform changing?

Through years of member feedback we have learned the need for an online community platform that provides an easier user experience, a simpler member signup and renewal process, and the ability for members to more seamlessly find and connect with each other. The new Living Future Community platform (hosted by Circle) will also allow us to make these improvements, and in turn, to grow this powerful community of advocates and changemakers.

How is my membership changing?

After May 1st, active members will continue to have access to the same benefits, including a few exciting additions. In particular, the following aspects of our member levels will be changing:

  • Professional Membership will now become an annual subscription (meaning auto-renewal for all members, no one-time payment option available.) Professional Members who wish to only pay for one year can cancel their subscription after initial payment.
  • Introductory Membership will no longer lapse annually and represents lifetime access to the online community platform.
  • Introductory (free) Members will now have account logins to the new online Living Future Community platform, including access to the Member Directory, regional community spaces, and more.

What will happen next?

⚠️ The following is applicable only to members who hold an active membership on May 1, 2025.  Lapsed members will not be migrated to the new platform and should register for membership as if they are new members. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us: membership@living-future.org.

For Professional Members:

  • Between May 1st and May 2nd, Professional Members will receive an email invitation to create their account in the new online platform (the sender will be “Living Future Community” at no-reply@living-future.org). This invitation will be sent to the email address currently associated with your membership. Creating an account will take less than 5 minutes.
  • Professional Members will also receive an email about their Professional Membership “trial”. The subject is “You’re trialing ‘Professional Membership” and it is sent from Living Future Community (no-reply@living-future.org)
    • The amount of time on this “trial” correlates to the amount of time remaining in your current membership. We have created a grace period for all members through this process, and your “trial” might in fact be more time than your current membership. Please contact membership@living-future.org if you have any questions or believe there is an error.
    • To activate auto-renewal and continue your Professional Membership subscription for another year, add your credit card information through the “trial” email notifications, or within the Billing section of your Account Settings.
  • Not interested in activating Professional subscription/auto-renewal? Simply do not add your billing information to your account. Professional Members will receive email reminders when your current membership “trial” is close to expiring. If you do not add billing information, you will be automatically downgraded to a free member account. You can upgrade back to Professional at any time by re-subscribing.

For our lifetime Professional Members (historical member offering):

  • Between May 1st and May 2nd, lifetime Professional Members will receive an email invitation to create their account in the new online platform (the sender will be “Living Future Community” at no-reply@living-future.org). This invitation will be sent to the email address currently associated with your membership. Creating an account will take less than 5 minutes.
  • You are granted lifetime access at the Professional level. Therefore, you will not receive any communications regarding a “trial” or adding billing details as noted above.

For Introductory (free) Members:

  • Between May 1st and May 2nd, Introductory Members will receive an email invitation to create their account in the new online platform (the sender will be “Living Future Community” at no-reply@living-future.org). This invitation will be sent to the email address currently associated with your membership. Creating an account will take less than 5 minutes.
  • Introductory membership does not lapse annually, and therefore does not require a subscription. In other words, Introductory membership provides lifetime access to the platform.

What if I signed up for an annual Professional Member subscription in the Living Future Marketplace (Shopify)?

Professional Members currently on a subscription plan through Shopify will need to re-enter their billing information in the new community platform. Please see “What will happen next?” FAQ for more details about how to update your billing information and how the new platform will prompt you when your current subscription is ending.

After May 1, your Professional Membership subscription in Shopify will be cancelled on your behalf–no further action is needed from you in Shopify. You will receive an automated email from “Seal Subscriptions” and Shopify confirming the cancellation.

What if I am part of a Corporate Membership?

You will receive access to the new platform on May 1st along with other Professional Members. Please reference "What will happen next?" FAQ for more details.

Will my login to the project and label portal or 3E Exchange change?

Will my login to the Education platform change?

The membership platform remains separate from the education platform. Please see the FAQ NEW: Education Platform Migration for details.

What will happen to my member profile and posts in the Member Dashboard?

Members will lose access to any posts they have created in the current Member Dashboard. Our staff have migrated a select number of recent posts to the new Living Future Community.

We are unable to migrate existing member profile information. Members will be prompted to establish their account and create complete member profile fields in the new Living Future Community platform.

All migrated members will have a join date of May 1, 2025 due to platform restrictions. We recognize that some of you have been in the member community much longer, and we are extremely grateful for your ongoing engagement and support.

I am part of a regional member community, what does this mean for me?

Members who are currently part of a regional community will need to rejoin their group in the new platform after May 1st. Members can join a regional group when creating their account for the new platform by completing the required field, “Would you like to be added to a local Living Future Community?”

Please reference "What will happen next?" FAQ for more details about what to expect in terms of account signup and access on May 1st.

I am also a member of the Living Future Institute Australia, what does this mean for me?

You will be migrated to the new platform alongside all of our other members between May 1 and May 2 (see the "What will happen next?" FAQ). Some important things to note:

  • Your member lapse date will align with your LFIA membership expiration date.
  • Moving forward, your membership will encompass both local (LFIA) and international membership programs as it currently does. You will be considered a Living Future Member.
  • Your membership fee will still go toward supporting LFIA.

If you have any questions, please contact us: membership@living-future.org.

Subject: Announcing your new member platform launching May 1st

I’m reaching out today with an important (and exciting!) update about your Living Future Member platform (currently called the “Member Dashboard”). On Thursday, May 1st, our team will launch a new online community platform for members which will replace the current Member Dashboard.

We’re looking forward to this change improving your member experience, including:

💻  A more user-friendly interface & member renewal process

👥  More powerful features for finding and connecting with members

No action is needed from you at this time, but here’s what will happen next:

  • Next week on April 30, you will receive a reminder email from our team about the platform change happening the following day on May 1.
  • Between May 1 and May 2, you will receive a separate email from our new platform inviting you to create your account. (Setting up your new account will take 5 minutes or less!) After this, you will no longer have access to the Member Dashboard.
