IAQ TESTING - OPTIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS
The requirement to test indoor air quality is meant to protect occupant health. If the residents can make a case that a particular pollutant is not anywhere in the project, then the Institute would consider waiving the requirement to test that particular pollutant on a case by case basis. In addition, local municipal outdoor air testing can be used in place of the outdoor control sample that is typically required to be collected from within 4 feet of the building's outdoor air inlet. However, if the local municipal sample was not taken during the same week as the indoor IAQ test, the team cannot use the results from the municipal test to justify any high reading from the indoor IAQ test.
